After one year of international cooperation, cultural exchange and friendship-building, the NaturEUnite – Nature Unites EU Citizens project has successfully reached its conclusion.

A significant step towards stronger cooperation in the Baltic region was taken on 21 May 2026 in Estonia’s Lahemaa National Park, where representatives of tourism organisations and national park communities from Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania signed a Baltic National Parks Tourism Collaboration Agreement — a goodwill memorandum establishing a shared vision for future cooperation in sustainable tourism development.

From 20–22 May 2026, participants of the international project NaturEUnite gathered in Estonia’s Lahemaa National Park for an inspiring experience exchange event focused on cooperation between protected areas, local communities, and sustainable tourism development.

Despite cold weather, snowfall, and blizzard-like conditions, an outdoor educational event in Cēsis was successfully carried out on 13 February 2026 within the Interreg Central Baltic project “Introduction of Nature and Culture Sites for Locals and Visitors” (INACS).

A cross-country skiing trail has been created in the Turaida Museum Reserve, and it will be available to visitors starting January 10 during museum opening hours, provided weather conditions are suitable.

As winter settles over Latvia, Gauja National Park transforms into a storybook landscape where pine forests glitter with frost and medieval towns glow beneath twinkling lights. Each December, this vast and enchanting region becomes one of the country’s most magical holiday destinations, offering visitors a blend of ancient traditions, cozy seasonal markets, and nature-filled adventures.

This week in Brussels, at a ceremonial event, Europe’s largest organisation of protected nature areas, the EUROPARC Federation, awarded the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism certificates. In the European Parliament, the certificate was awarded for the first time also by Gauja National Park (GNP) as a sustainable tourism destination in Europe.
